As teachers we are always searching for new ways to bring fun to the classroom. This can either be through music, dance, or activities that require movement. Sometimes we can easily gloss over the small, visual details that can truly enhance a lesson. For my powerpoint presentations, worksheets, word wall, and other visual aids students use to learn, I have begun adding Bitmojis.
A Bitmoji is a personalized cartoon character that represents an “emoji.” Bitmojis come in a variety of expressions and are a useful tool for enhancing lessons in a visual way. I have added Bitmojis to my presentations as key visuals for tasks students need to complete. They have been a huge success in my classroom because: 1) Students LOVE using Snapchat and they love using their Bitmojis on Snapchat so it is relatable to them, 2) They do not have to ask for clarification on what to do, and 3) they think it’s LIT. Below are some of the slides from a Geometry vocabulary lesson.
To use Bitmoji, you can download the Chrome Bitmoji Extension here. You must be using the Google Chrome web browser to download the extension.
